What is conveyancing?

Conveyancing is the legal process by which ownership of a property is transferred from the seller to the buyer. It starts when your offer on a house is accepted and finishes when you pick up the keys.

After the exchange of contracts, up to the moving day, which is known as completion, you and the seller will be legally committed to the purchase. If either party breaches those agreements they can face heavy financial penalties.
