Wooburn Green

Wooburn Green is a village conveniently close to the M40 motorway making London, Oxford and Birmingham accessible by road.

Wooburn Green’s superb one and a half acre village green is a conservation area and is fringed by old cottages and small Victorian and Edwardian houses. It plays host to a few local celebrations and is very much the centre of the village. The village offers an attractive mix of established mature older style properties and modern apartments and houses. In recent times village lifestyle has attracted more people from outside the area and it has benefitted from sympathetic modern development with the introduction of a few modern shops and businesses.

There are a number of attractive pubs and restaurants in the area. The Old Bell dates back to the 16th century and just up the hill at Wooburn Common, is the historic Chequers Inn, a 17th century coaching inn at one time a meeting and resting point on the long journey from London to Oxford. It is now a popular Hotel and restaurant.

There are numerous countryside walks close to the village and a 5 minute drive to the stunning Cliveden, a National Trust property, will provide a wonderful day out either walking or picnicking by the River Thames. During the summer months boat trips are available up and down the river.

There is a secondary school nearby in Bourne End and Grammar schools in High Wycombe and Beaconsfield, just a short drive away. There are a number of GP and dental practices to be found locally.

A David Lloyd Sports and leisure centre, providing racket sports, a fully equipped gym and exercise classes is situated close by near the site of the old water mill which was originally built in 1200. Over the centuries the mill underwent many changes, being mechanised in the early 19th century. It became known as Glory Mill providing employment to the area until its closure in October 1999. The site was sold for housing which replicates the mill style and feel and has become very popular with both investment buyers and families alike.
